Dr. Alton is a registered member of the College of Naturoapthic Doctors of Ontario, and a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors, and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Naturopathic Doctors have an extensive educational background with a bachelor degree of science or equivalent from a university, and a 4-year medical degree from a naturopathic medical school, as well as annual continuing education on the research behind the body’s biochemistry and mechanism of action for diseases and dysfunctions, as well as, what the latest medical research on natural therapies is showing. Our clinical experience also helps guide the content of the coursework, making it relevant to the most common questions and needs of the average patient.
What HealthCare Services Are There?
Paramedical healthcare providers is the term given to regulated healthcare professionals in Ontario, that are not covered by our Canadian government healthcare system, but are covered by extended benefit plans. They include:
pelvic floor physiotherapists
speech language pathologists
lymphatic massage therapists
colonic and hydrotherapies
why do you charge for makecare classes?
We want to create a balance between making healthcare information more accessible, easier to understand and implement, and yet create a culture that is conscious of the cost healthy and non-healthy lifestyle choices can be.
what is a naturopath or naturopathic doctor and what can they do for me?
From the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Medicine: Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care system that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and treat the underlying cause of disease. Symptoms of disease are seen as warning signals of improper functioning of the body, and unfavourable lifestyle habits.
In addition to diet and lifestyle changes, natural therapies including botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, naturopathic manipulation and traditional Chinese medicine/acupuncture, may also be used during treatments.
who should take these classes?
MakeCare community classes and workshops are designed for the very beginner who knows nothing of their body or is skeptical of naturopathic medicine and natural health, to the very conscious and proactive individual who has self-taught a lot to overcome their own health condition or already been through a range of paramedical and naturopathic healthcare providers. MakeCare helps consolidate the basics of health information available online, when it comes to the biochemical and physiologic perspective of how your body works and how lifestyle choices can impact it.
